Missions: The WheelersDoug Wheeler has been going to Nigeria, West Africa, on short mission trips of 1-3 months duration since 1984. He works primarily with Nigerian evangelists in following up on World Bible School students in the southern part of that country. The World Bible School Bible Correspondence Course has had a powerful impact on church growth there. Doug is also responsible for getting financial support that American and Canadian brethren send to 275 Nigerian evangelists. He intends to travel to Nigeria twice a year beginning in the year 2005. Nigeria has a population of 135 million people, though its size is only slightly larger than Oklahoma and Texas put together. It is the 9th most populous country in the world. There are 3,600 congregations of the Lord's church in Nigeria, and they have an approximate membership of 330,000. Fortunately, the Brotherhood has four 'flagship' preacher-training schools in Nigeria, as well as a number of smaller training schools. There is the constant need to train more preachers and leaders for the growing church population. Truly, the fields are white unto harvest in Nigeria. God has opened the door to Nigeria in 1948 through C.A.O. Essien and a Bible Correspondence Course, and the gospel has been marching mightily in this country ever since! Missions:
